If you’re always on the hunt for ways to make your workflow smoother and your renders pop, you’re going to want to check this out!
Installation is still a breeze – just drag and drop the add-on zip into Blender. You’ll immediately notice the improved, condensed user interface, making navigation and tweaking settings like fire color or smoke properties much easier.
The biggest game-changer is the overhauled system for assets and expansion packs:
• Easy Fog 2 includes around 100 static VDB presets.
• For animated assets, a new button takes you directly to the preferences where you can access expansion packs.
• The list of available packs is now linked to an online repository, meaning new presets will automatically appear, and you’ll get in-add-on notifications.
• You can download and install individual packs automatically or choose to “download all available packs” at once. Patreon packs can be installed from a zip file.
• Crucially, you can now easily change the VDB asset storage path to another drive, and the add-on will automatically move existing assets and install future downloads there.
Updating the add-on itself is also simplified. Instead of reinstalling everything, just use the “update add-on” button: download the new zip, click update, locate the zip, and restart Blender – your add-on updates, and your assets stay put.
The update also adds useful settings like preview size customization, toggling an info button for tips (e.g., using Filmic for better-looking explosions), and changing collection colors.
