Copyright & Takedown Policy
Last Updated: July 8, 2025
Our Commitment to Copyright
CGEcho.net respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. It is our policy to respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with applicable international copyright laws, including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) in the United States and the E-Commerce Directive in the European Union.
The Principle of Fair Use, Fair Dealing, and Other Exceptions
The content on CGEcho.net is created for the purposes of news reporting, commentary, criticism, and education. We believe that our use of copyrighted material falls under the legal doctrines of “Fair Use” (in the U.S.), “Fair Dealing” for criticism, review, and news reporting (in Canada, the UK, and other Commonwealth countries), and similar exceptions for quotation and commentary under European copyright law.
Our use of such material is transformative in nature. We do not simply reproduce content; we add value by providing summaries, analysis, and context relevant to our audience of 3D artists and creative professionals. We always make a concerted effort to:
- Use only the amount of copyrighted material necessary to convey our message.
- Prominently credit the original creator and provide a direct link back to the original source material.
- Drive traffic to the original creators, thereby supporting, not supplanting, the market for their work.
Takedown Notification Procedure
Despite our commitment to these principles, we understand that copyright holders may sometimes disagree with our assessment. If you are a copyright owner or an agent thereof and believe that any content on CGEcho.net infringes upon your copyrights, you may submit a notification to us with the following information in writing:
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site.
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material. Providing the specific URL(s) of the content in question is the best way to help us locate it quickly.
- Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address at which you may be contacted.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury (or as otherwise required by applicable law), that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Our Response
Upon receipt of a valid infringement notification, we will promptly investigate the claim and, if we determine that an infringement has occurred, we will take down or disable access to the infringing material as required. We will also notify the user who posted the content, if applicable, and provide them with an opportunity to submit a counter-notification if allowed by law.
Please be aware that under applicable law, you may be liable for damages (including costs and attorneys’ fees) if you materially misrepresent that a product or activity is infringing your copyrights.
